READY SACRIFICE
DOMINION GOVERNMENTS
ASSISTANCE TO BRITAIN
(United Press Association —Copyright.) (Rec. 12-35 p.m.) LOinDON, oepi. IV. In a speech in the House of Lords the Dominions Secretary (.Lord Caldecote) said the inclusion ol almost the whole of Europe in the war zone had deprived the Dominions of many valuable markets. “I must pay a tribute to the Dominions for their unselfish readiness to modify tlieir plans and organisation to meet the needs of the United Kingdom, though it may be to the prejudice or their wealth,” he said. “It must not be thought that the contribution by the Dominions has been achieved without stress or strain, or that t'hey are enjoying benefits without a corresponding financial sacrifice. Each has freely made very large expenditure ill resolute support oi the common cause. This undoubtedly has imposed a great and increasing burden on their Budgets, involving the people in many sacrifices, but these have been met without complaining, indeed jvith enthusiasm.”
