AIRMEN DECORATED.

TWO AAV ARDS OF D.F.C.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. Two more New Zealanders have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. They are : FLYING OFFICER BRIAN JOHN GEORGE CARBERRY. PILOT-OFFICER MICHAEL JAMES HERRICK.

Pilot Officer Herrick is the son of Mr E. J. Herrick, of Hastings, and is only 19 years of age. He was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School, where he matriculated, and he left the college to enter the Royal Air Force College. Cranwell, as a cadet, in the middle of last year. This decoration recalls the remarkable record of the Herrick family in the armed forces. Lieutenant T. D. Herrick, the second son, is on active service with the Royal Navv in the Mediterranean; Mr i>. T Herrick is with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, stationed, at Wigram. where he is undergoing training; Pilot-Officer B. H. Herrick is in a Blenheim bomber squadron in England; and SubLieutenant L. E. Herrick, the fifth son, is a member of the crew of a submarine. The elder daughter of the family is Mrs Noel Poett, wife of an army officer living in England.
