ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
On Saturday the Terrace End A and Ashhurst School Association football teams met in the knock-out final for the Young Shield. Prior to this, the two teams had mot on three occasions, for two draws and a win to Terrace End. On Saturday, however, the Ashhurst boy 6 turned the tables and’won by two goals to nil and so become the holders of the shield. Representatives of the Manawatu Football Association- were present, and in making the presentation of the shield they congratulated the Ashhurst hoys on their fine performances for a first-year team, and also stated it had been a pleasure to be associated with the five Ashhurst lads pvho had been members' of the representative team that had played at Napier. The team captain and the headmaster (Mr R.' N. Finlav) thanked the sneakers for the remarks and thanked the officials for the great interest they had displayed in the efforts of the boys.— Ashhurst correspondent.
