(From Our Own Correspondent.) APm, Sept. 16. A mooting of the home science committee of the Apiti District High School was held at the home of Mrs O. M. Stanley on Saturday afternoon. Also present were Mcsdames J. 11. C'owan, G. Watkins, S. H. White (W.D.F.U. representatives),, W Hogan, and J. R. Osborne (Women’s Institute). Mrs Stanley presided, and a programme of work was arranged to tho end of the term. This consists of demonstrations by experts of a special kind of cushion, felt work, tatting, and wood fibre flowers. The Table Flat Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting' recently. Miss It. Eliot presided. It was decided to appoint the delegates for tho half-yearly council meeting at the garden circle later in the month. Three soldiers’ Christmas parcels were packed There is a further supply of garments for the Lady Galway Guild together with a peggv square cot quilt. The winners of the points competitions were: — Bloom. Mrs D. Hogan 1, Mrs Miller 2, Mrs H. Jenson 3; vase of daffodils, Mis 6 P. Hogan 1, Mrs H. Jensen 2 and 3; sox, Miss E. Jensen 1, Miss Hogan 2. Mrs Jensen 3; flow'erbag serviette. Miss P. Hogan 1, Miss E. Jensen 2, Miss Pettigrew 3; sponge roll, Mrs H. Jensen 1 and 3, Mrs Eliot 2. The garden . circle will meet at Mrs Martin’s home and the competition is for a collection of six daffodils. All members will take a plant for their hostess’s garden. - • Corporal R. Thompson from Trenthani' Camp lias been the week-end guest of Mr and Mrs S. F. Morris. Mr A. Dunlop, of Levin, is visiting his sister, Airs Tom Osborne. Members of the local .Y.F.C. attended Sunday evening service at the Presbyterian Church.

d’f'o date, 58 lambskins have been washed, ready for curing, by Mrs W. Hogan on behalf of "the Apiti Women’s Institute. These are needed for making gloves for minesweeper crews. All young lamb skins will bo gratefully received.
