HOROWHENUA.
(From Our Own Correspondent ) OTAKI, Sept. 12. A fire at the Telegraph Hotel yesterday destroyed a settee, mats i etc. Two funerals took place yesterday, both Mrs Duncan Wilson and Mr Walter Westwood being laid to rest in the Otaki cemetery. The members of the Druids’ Lodge were present at the funeral of’ the former, while the ceremony at the latter was witnessed by a number of the Masonic fraternity. Rev. Mr Watson and Rev Mr Cook officiating. The state of the main road in Otaki is Ihe subject of complaint by motorists and the Highways Board is" to be asked to fill in the numerous holes. Mr W. Mcßeth’s business premises were burglariously entered last night and meal, etc., taken. The fire engine, which has been replaced by a more up-to-date one was yesterday sold for £8 IQs
