NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE.
In I urtherance of the campaign of the New Zealand Alliance, a series of meetings have been addressed by Mr H. Milner, general superintendent of the Alliance, and Mr H. Grinstead, hon. secretary. The Dominion executive of the Alliance, which is composed of representatives of the dm temperance organisations and the W.C.T.U.. has resolved to appeal to the citizens to sign a petition to the Government urging the lowering of the alcoholic content, absolute prohibition of the importation of spirits for beverage use, the strict observance of the 6 o’clock closing law and further, that no liquor 'be supplied or sold to anyone whether a lodger or otherwise after 6 o’clock. Other reforms are asked for during the period of the war and for six months after. The petition has already been launched at Taumarunui, Martori and Feilding.
