WAIKATO COAL MINES

HUNTLY, Sept. 13. The trouble at the MacDonald coalmine spread to the Glen Afton mine yesterday, and now nearly 400 men are idle. Both mines arc controlled by Glen Afton Collieries, Ltd. No work was done at either mine yesterday. A stop-work meeting was held at the Glen Afton mine yesterday morning, and the 185 miners there decided to go out in sympathy with the 200 men from the MacDonald mine. The MacDonald miners held a meeting in the afternoon, but no progress was reported. Wet-time payment claimed by one of their number appears to be the burden of the trouble. DISPUTE SETTLED.
