NEW AXIS DEMANDS.

REJECTION .BY VICHY

UNCONFIRMED REPORTS

LONDON, Sept. 13

Unconfirmed reports from New York state that the Vichy Government lias rejected new and heavy demands made by Germany and Italy. The Germans demanded the surrender of 58 per cent, of the live stock in unoccupied France, and the Italians sought the demobilisation of all French troops in North Africa. It is thought the future of the Vichy Government and of unoccupied France may he vitally affected by the rejection of these demands, and that German and Italian troops may extend their occupation to the greater part of unoccupied France. / It is further reported that in Alsaco Lorraine the Germans are requiring that French Christian and surnames shall be changed to the German form. If that cannot be done, new German names must be adopted. '
