(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, Sept. 12. The display of flowers in the Town Hall on Wednesday, when St. Thomas's Anglican Church held its annual show, was one of the best yet seen. There was a very good attendance in the afternoon, but owing to a counter-attraction in the district there was not the number hoped for in the evening, when a most entertaining concert was arranged by Mr J. Holmes Itunniclcs (choirmaster of All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North). On behalf of those present, Rev. N. S. Barnett expressed their appreciation to Mr Runniclcs for providing the entertainment. A very colourful floral exhibition display was staged by Mrs J. M. Mason, of Feilding. Mr F. Mason,. in remarking on the exhibits generally, said they were all of very high standard, and although the spring flowers had come out much earlier than last year, there wero some outstanding blooms. The judge of the decorative class, Mrs J. E. Barltrop (Feilding) said she would have liked to have seen more competition in some of the classes, especially the lady’s spray, hand bouquet and posy sections, but at the same time she congratulated the entrants on their efforts. Mrs Hendry, of Bulls, who judged the needlework display, said the standard was very fine, and she was pleased to see such keen competition. Before the commencement of the evening programme, Mr Barnett expressed Blanks to the Church committee and all who had helped to make the show such a success. On behalf of parishioners, he called on Mrs Scandlyn to accept a small gift as a mark of appreciation for her voluntary services in connection with the decorations and caro of tho church. Mr Barnett also expressed, a welcome to Mr Runqicles and the choir. The programme opened with “God Defend New Zealand,” followed by the choir in “There’ll Always Bo An England”; solo, Mrs Jamieson, “Good Morning, Brother Sunshine”; Mr Wilson, “Passing By” ; Miss Bailey and Miss Floid, humorous play reading; duet, Mrs Jamieson and Miss D. Langridgo, “Arise, 0 Sun”; recitation, Miss D. Langridge; quartette. “Annie Laurie”; solo, Mr Moxon. “Yeomen of England”; humorous recitation, Mr Runnicles; solo, Mr Wilson; solo, Master Ingram; humorous recitation, Mr' Runnicles; solos, Mrs Jamieson, Mr J. Moxon,\ Miss Meyer, Master Ingram, Miss D. Langridgo; anthem, “Hear. 0 Lord.” Competitions wero won by Gordon Currie, Mrs S. L. Orr, Mrs T. Davey, and Mr C. 'O’Connell. The following, are additional awards:—Children’s knitting; Juniors, J. Eghnton 1. R. Bishop 2, S. Harris 3; seniors, Jean Cole 1, .K. Collier 2, May Bishop 3; points prize, senior J. Cole, junior J. Eglinton.
