GRANT OF £IO,OOO. FROM DISTRESS FUND. Per Press Association. . WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. The question of providing immediate assistance lor the relief of distress arising from the air raids in the United. Kingdom was considered at a special meeting of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society, presided over by Sir James Elliott, this morning. It was unanimously agreed to make an immediate provision of £IO,OOO out of the Sick, Wounded and Distress Fund to be transmitted to the joint war organisation of the Red Cross and the Order of St. John in London, to be so utilised.
