CANADIAN WAR EFFORT. OTTAWA, Sept. 12. The Canadian Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) lias cabled Air Churchill as follows : “The men, women and children of Britain may rely on Canada redoubling her efforts to give all the support in her power to their inspiring resistance to the barbarous and inhuman slaughter they are. called on to endure.’’ . The Minister of Supply (Mr C. D. Howe) said the Canadian war industries, augmented by more than 200,000,000 dollars of capital expenditure were entering a period where, instead of building, they were producing. The total capital expenditure on plant and equipment in Canada by England and Canada jointly was as follow : Explosives and chemicals, 58,•100,000 dollars; armament, 67,000,000 dollars; ammunition, 19,000,000 dollars ; shells, cartridge cases and fuses, 1,400,000 dollars; automotive equipment, including tanks, 4,800,000 dollars; base metals and aircraft, 62,000,000 dollars.

British purchases since the outbreak of war amount to 208,000,000 dollars, exclusive of lumber and foodstuffs. Canadian war purchases total 135,000,000 dollars, exclusive of plant extensions.
