Mr Henderson then moved that a remit l>e sent to the Wellington Provincial Council that all money collected he credited to the provincial fund account, and that all expenditure come from this account. This was on the lines of a motion moved by Mr J. C. Young at a meeting of the Palmerston North Patriotic Committee, where it was lost, but- it liad been decided that it should be sent on to Wellington. Mr Hay said that because_ of the possibility of this discouraging the initiative of individual committees if it were put into effect, lie would oppose it tooth and nail. Mr Mansford said that he could see no objection to the" remit going to Wellington, and thought it should, in fairness to Mr Young. If. there were advantages in the proposal they would soon be realised in Wellington, and ii it- was thought that initiative would be destroyed it would not be supported. The remit was carried.
