Regulations gazetted last night will enable dairy companies whose memoranda or articles of association do not contain borrowing powers to borrow money from the State Advances Corporation to relend to their suppliers in order to increase primary production. Otago Wool Prospects, A larger wool clip of better quality than was the case last season should enable growers to take the fullest advantage of the extra threepence a pound they are now receiving under '• i Empire purchase scheme, compared w ith the 1938-39 season; when auctions were last held, says an Otago report. For selling wool privately to other dealers contrary to the Purchase of Wool Emergency Regulations, 1939, David Patterson was fined £5, with costs £2 4s 6d, by Mr Miller, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Napier. It was stated that tins was one of a number of cases to be dealt with shortly.
