NOTES. In the Women's Institute Hall Bus morning the ladies of Holy Trinity Guild were busy arranging beautiful flower exhibits for the annual show. 1 here was promise of a splendid display of blooms. At a patriotic dance and euchre party hold under the auspices of Snake Gully Dance Club the Christinas parcels fund benefited substantially. Competitions resulted : Monte Carlo, Miss D. Dickens and Mr It. Robb; lucky Gay Gordons, Miss Goldsworthy and Mr W. Cook; euchre, Mrs L. Gleadow and Mr E; D. Cattanach. Messrs Spelmau and Prince provided enjoyable music. On Tuesday afternoon,, some interest was taken in the efforts of a light plane to cross the range towards Palmerston North under what must have proved very difficult conditions. Finally, the attempt was abandoned, and the machine was brought down safely on the racecourse. As the result of action taken by the Woodvillc Patriotic Society entertainment committee, Woodvillc will shortly be visited by the Palmerston ■ North Little I heatre Society, who will stage the play “Lover s Leap.” , Messrs W. J. Hawkes (Woodvillc county engineer), A. H. Spackman (Woodvillc county motor mechanic) and J. P. Brodie (Weber county engineer) have been retted testing officers under the motor •drivers’ regulations. ... Air D. Ivcay, secretary of the W oodyuic Patriotic Society, acknowledges further donations to the Spitfire Fund, as follow: Previously acknowledged, £5 10s; Mr and Airs T. if. Bryant, £2; N. S. Smith, ss; Anonvmous, £2 10s; A.' Arlidgc, 10s; Mr and Mrs C. B. Ball. £3; Mr and «Mrs lv. C. Leach, £2; total to date, £ls 15s.
