ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Sept. 11
At the monthly meeting of the School Committee. Mr F. A. Dunstall, presided. The chairman welcomed Mr McDonell back to the committee after his long illness. The headmaster reported that the roll was 104 prior to the vacation, and now stood at 108. The water supply had again given trouble and the concrete tank was unable to cope with the requirements of the school. It was decided to have the pumping plant attended to and the well inspected. For the school’s calf club competitions there were 12 entries, and six have entered for the agricultural plots. There were five Ashhurst boys selected in the Manawatu schoolboys’ ' Association football representatives who competed in the Napier tournament; though the team was unsuccessful, the boys had a splendid experience. It w'as decidbd to have repairs to fences attended to and a load of spoil spread along the edges of new concrete paths.'The change from the annual children’s fancy dress ball to a concert proved a splendid success, and the committee expressed thanks to the headmaster and the teachers for the entertainment they had put on.
