German Agent Charged. The Federal Court at Los Angeles dismissed the charges against Herbert Hoehne that he failed to register as a German agent, the prosecutor saying that the arrest of Emil Wolfe at Balboa accomplished the objective. (Wolfe was fined 2000 dollars and given a three months’ suspended sentence for acting as a foreign agent without registering.) Carol’s Movements.

The American Red Cross, without delay, is shipping to Loudon half a million garments and large stocks of medicines and beds. It has also cabled funds to purchase canteens, etc. Eruption in Japan. The Domei (Japanese) News Agency reports that residents on the slopes of Mount Asoduke have hardly seen the sun since August 24. The volcano has been almost constantly belching ashes following a 53-year-period of dormancy. The people carry raised umbrellas as a protection. The crops of 13 villages have been destroyed.
Typhoon in Japan. A typhoon in Western Kyushu killed at least 22 and destroyed 50 houses, states a Tokio cablegram. Film Actor’s Donation.
