TERRIFIC BARRAGE.

ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS. LONDON ROCKS WITH NOISE. (From Daventry.) Guns of all calibre were heard in London last night as a terrific antiaircraft barrage was sent up against the Nazi planes. There were no searchlights used, the fighting being dono in the dark except for the flashes everywhere of shells. London rocked with the terrific noise. Some bombs were dropped on London, and other parts of the country also report the presence of German planes. Earlier, German long-range guns fired on Dover from the French coast and the British guns replied. Ninety German, planes were brought down yesterday, and the British lost 23 planes, but tho pilots of three of these are safe. Fourteen German raid; ers . were shot down by the, Polish Squadron . The casualties in London on Tuesday night were less serious than for-

morly, being 18 killed and 2SO injured. The R.A.F. on Tuesday night made attacks on Gorman-occupied positions on the French, Belgian and Dutch coasts. Calais was bombed for three Hours and Ostend for eight liours. Other places bombed included , Boulogne. Flushing, and Dieppe. At Calais two German motor torpedo-boats were bit and probably sunk.
