ADDINGTON SALE. VALUES TREND HIGHER. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 11. There were short yardings of fat cattlo and sheep at Addington to-day. Prices for both rose, cattle by £1 to 255, sheep by 2s. The sheep yarding' was the smallest of recent years. There was a sound demand for all classes, especially hoggets. There was a cattle entry of 264 of medium quality. Good beef made 50s a hundred ;• best to 555. Extra prime steers made to £26 12s 6d, medium to heavy £ls 10s to £22, others £lO to £ls; best heifers, £l3 5s to £l9 2s 6d, others £8 to £l3; best cows, £lO 10s to £l9 7s 6d; others, £5 to £lO. There was a fat sheep yarding of 2250. A fair proportion of tho offering was southern sheep, passed last week. In view of the small entry the rise of 2s was moderate. The sale was steady throughout. Best ,wethers made 45s to 60s Id, ordinary to good, 39s 6d to 44s 9d; light, down to 325; best ewes, 40s to 50s 4d; good, 30s to 39s 6d; light, down to 225. The pork entry was small. Prices wero tho highest of the season. For baconcrs there was little change, except lor tho heaviest, which were easier. The pork average a pound was Bj>d to bacon 7£d to Bd. PAHIATUA QUOTATIONS. Prices at this week’s Pahiatua sale were; Dairy stock. —Heifers close to calving (good)', £l3 15s, £l3 10s. £l3 to £l2 10s; calved, £l3 10s, £l3, £ll 10s to £lO 15s; dairy cows (calved), £l4 to £l3. £l2; later ealvers, £lO, £9. to £8; yearling Jersey heifers, £6 to £5 16s; 2-yr empty heifers (Jersey), £6 Is. Sheep.—Fat owes, 32s to 295; light fat wethers, 295; ewe hoggets (medium), 27s 3d; small wether hoggets, 22s 6d. Pigs.—VVeaners (good), 35s 6d; medium sorts, 26s 6d, 255, 24s 6d to 21s; store pigs (small), 30s 6d. STORTFORD LODGE. HASTINGS, Sept. 11. Tho demand for store cattlo was brisk at the Stortford Lodge sale, the yarding of 1500 being the biggest of tho season. Fouryear bullocks, made from £lO 12s to £11; good three-year steers. £9 12s to £lO 2s; two-vear A.A. steers, £7 ss: small medium, £5 17s 6d; yearling steers, £5 10s t.o £5 16s; empty cows for fattening, £5 15s to £6 14s; light empty three-year A.A. heifers, £5 15s; fairly grown two-year heifers £5 16s. Wellfinished medium-weight bullocks, £l3 12s 6d to £l4 17s 6d; lighter, £ll 17s 6d to £l3 2s 6d. Tho top price for cows was £l4 17s 6d for a heavy A.A. Shorthorn-cross. Best heifers, £ll 7s 6d lo £l2 17s 6d, choice young beef, £7 17s 6d to £9 12s 6d. Aged ewes, Down cross, undocked lambs at foot, brought, from 17s 4d to 17s 6d, all counted. Tho best sale of wether hoggets was 25s 7d. WESTFIELD RATES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 11. Priees at the Westfield sale were:— Cattle. —Extra heavy prime steers, £ls 10s to £l6 15s; heavy, £l4 5s to £ls: medium, £l2 15s to £l3 10s; extra heavy prime cows and heifers. £lO 10s to £l2 10s; heavv, £8 10s to £9 10s; medium. £6 15s to £7 15s; runners made 100 s to 222 s 6d; heavv vealers, 130 s to 160 s; medium, 110 s to 1255. Pigs.—Croppers. 59s to 955; heavy hnconers. 86s to 925: medium. 80s to 83s: heavy porkers,'76s to 80s; medium. 68s to 725. Sheep.—Extra heavy prime wethers, 42s to 445; heavy, 38s 6d to 40s; medium, ?5s to 36s 6d: extra heavv prime ewes, 33s to 365; heavy, 28s 6d to 31s; medium. 25s to 275. A small hogget entry sold at from 17s 6d to 38s. •
