FROSTS LIKELY. Per Press Association. . AVELLINGTON, Sept. 11. An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and Southern New Zealand and a vigorous depression is centred near the Chatham Islands. The forecast is for fresh to strong southerly winds, decreasing -to-night. There will be some isolated showers today in and east of the ranges, but the weather will bo generally fine tomorrow. Temperatures cold, with some inland frosts. Seas rough. RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—4ft. 9in.
