AFRICAN FRONT.

THRUST IN ABYSSINIA. (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) NAIROBI, Sept. 10. A communique states: “One of our patrols penetrated 16 miles into Abyssinia 80 miles east of Lake Rudolf and found 40 soldiers occupying a fort. The patrol inflicted several casualties and withdrew without loss.” A Rome communique states: “The air force started fires at Jaffa (Palestine), blew up a train at Mersa Matruh railway (Egypt) and bombed and machine-gunned troop encampments in North Africa. The enemy raided a post in Cyrenaica. One was killed and four wounded, and the damage was insignificant. The enemy also attacked Massawa and Asmara (Eritrea) and Dessie (Abyssinia). Two were killed and three wounded.”
