DEATH IN ENGLAND.

SOLDIER FROM TARANAKI. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 11. Advico has been received of the death on active service in England of Sapper Oswald J. Jans, a member of the forestry detachment of the Second Echelon, New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

Sapper Jans, who was aged 47, was not" married. He was the second son of the late Mr and Mrs O. Jans, formerly well-knoivn residents of the Stratford and Oakura districts. He also lived for some time at Oakura and Okato, but for the past ten years had lived in the King Country, where he was engaged in contracting. He saw three years’ service in tho last war and enlisted from Taumarunui.
