WEDDINGS.
SUTHERLAND—HONORE. A quiet and very pretty -wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on August 3 when Frances Edith, only daughter of Air and Airs W. J. Honore, of Fit/roy Street, Palmerston North, was married to John Alan, elder son' of Mr and Mrs A. J. Sutherland, of Rangitoto, To Ivuiti. Rev. J. Hubbard, ALA., 8.D., officiated at the ceremony and Airs Emmett played the wedding music. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was becomingly attired in a slini-fitting gown of magnolia satin, with draped neckline finished with a Spara crystal necklace. The sleeves were inset and fitted the lower arm to glove the hands in a mitred point. The beautifully embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and fell to form a second train. A bouquet of St. Joseph lilies, freesias and cyclamen completed the bride’s toilette. ■
The bride was attended by a trio of maids, Afisses Elsie Signal, June Davidson and Peggy Robertson. They were identically gowned in pale blue hailstone net over taffeta. The gowns were modelled oil Early Victorian lines with bustles and pointed bodices. Gold Juliet caps were held in place by blue and gold floral coronets. Each bridesmaid carried a pretty gold trimmed mull.
The bridegroom was attended by bis brother, Air A. G. Sutherland, of Te Ivuiti, as best man, and Mr P. B. Lynch, of Wellington, and Air F. Honore, of Sydney, as groomsmen. During the signing of the register Air W. Signal, of Wellington, sang “Because.”
After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the P.D.C. tearooms. They were received by Mr and Mrs W r . J. Honore, the latter wearing a model frock of black georgette with hat to I match, and carrying a bouquet of cyclamen. Airs A. J. . Sutherland, mother of the bridegroom, chose a becoming, ensemble of blue georgette and carried a matching bouquet of Ireesias. Air Hubbard acted as toastmaster and the usual toasts were honoured. The beautiful two-tiered cake, which occupied pride of place, was made by the bride’s mother and was much enjoyed by all. Numerous telegrams from all parts of New Zealand were read at the breakfast. The bride appeared for travelling in an Air Forceblue frock with smart spring coat and model hat to match.
The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many useful gifts and cheques and a handsome silver teaset, presented to the bridegroom by the resident students of Alassey Agricultural College. Prior to the wedding the bride was entertained at several gift teas, the hostesses beiug Aliss H. Spring and Aliss I. Lovelock (china evening;, Airs and Aliss D. Robertson (kitchen evening), Mrs Davidson (kitchen afternoon), and Airs 11. Palmer (pantry evening). Air and Airs Sutherland have now taken up their residence in Palmerston North.
FERGUS—'WATSON. St. yPaul’s .Church, Feilding, . was the scene of ! a pretty wedding on Saturday, August 3, when Edna Ala vis-.(Petty), eldest daughter of Air and Mrs, Al. W. Watson, of Feilding, was married to William Isherwood, eldest son of Mr and Airs W. Fergus, of Dunedin. Rev. A. L. Dixon officiated. Escorted by her father, the bride
magnolia embossed satin, fashioned with slim-fitting bodice, with high neck-line and tiny buttons down the back. The skirt was slim-fitting ■to the knees and flared into a fan-shaped train. Her tulle veil was Held to her head with a halo of orange blossoms, and she wore matching shoes, and carried a bouquet of winter roses, camellias and maidenhair 1-arn, witii satin streamers, to complete a most attractive toilette. In attendance as bridesmaid was Aliss Helen Chandler, a friend of the bride, who wore a frock of blue georgette over blue taffeta, made with a full skirt and a heart-shaped neckline held on each side with a blue flower; tho sleeves Merc ruchcd. She also wore a blue Juliet cap, covered with pale blue flowers, and carried a bouquet of roses, camellias and maidenhair fern, with pink streamers. Mr Arthur Buchan, a friend of the bridegroom, Mas best man. On leaving the church the bride n-as presented witii a horseshoe by her cousin, Lorna Hepworth. The reception folloM'ing was held at the Parish Hall, where some seventy friends and relations were received by Air and Mrs AI. W. Watson, the latter M’earirg a brown tailored costume with cream lace blouse and a brown felt hat with accessories to tone. Airs Fergus assisted Airs Watson, wearing a black frock relieved witli white, a black felt hat and a black fur coat. Mr S. Collier made an able toastmaster and the usual felicitations M-ere offered. AVben the bride and bridegroom left for the north the bride travelled in a teal blue costume with, plum hat, and shoes, bag and gloves. Their future home is in Feilding.
