Captain Torkild Itieber has resigned a £3O 000 a year position as chairman of the board of the Texas (Oil) Corporation as the outcome of unfavourable publicity concerning his relationship with Dr. Gerliardt "Westrick, counsellor at the German Embassy. Captain Richer, who spent his early life at sea, and now has large oil interests, bought a motor-car for the German representative with 1570 dollars from Texas Corporation funds. When an investigation into Wcstrick’s alleged subversive activities revealed the motor-car transaction. Captain Richer explained that he thought' it was “good business” to loan AVestrick the motor-car.

Captain Rieber was born in A 7 oss, Noi'wa.v, but came to the United States in 1897 and was naturalised in 1905. AVestrick is said to have interviewed many people, from labour men to millionaires.
