Mrs M. K. Luxford, of Palmerston North, is tho guest of Mrs N. C. Gudex, of Hamilton. Miss J. Galvin, sports mistress at tho Palmerston North Girls’ High School, has been granted leave of absence for family reasons, and Miss .7. Martin, of Wellington,, will be relieving i sports mistress during the coming term.

Former residents of Palmerston North,,who visited the .city at the weekend were Misses Muriel Wilson and Phyllis Hindle, of Christchurch (general secretary of the Y.W.C.A.). Miss Wilson returned to Christchurch last evening and Miss Hindle, will be staying in Wellington for the meeting of tho National Board this week. Mrs Eva Adams, of Aramolio, celebrated her 85th birthday on Sunday. She remembers the volcanic eruption in the early morning of June 10, 1886, at Mount Tarawera, resulting in the destruction of the village of Wairoa. For many years Mrs Adams and her late husband, who was a minister of the Presbyterian Church, lived in Onchunga. A Loudon message announces tho death of Miss Reba Cohen, who was at one time honorary conductor to the Auckland Synagogue Choir. Miss Cohen was the iounder and conductor of the Albion Ladies’ Musical Society and possessed a fine soprano voice. She is survived by a sister and a brother in New Zealand, Mrs Sarah Hart (Wellington) and Mr Leon Cohen (JDunedin).
