SPECTACULAR SKI RACE.

One of the most spectacular races ever hold in Now Aealand attracted large crowds to the slopes ol Mount Ruapehu during the week-end, when 24 skiers raced from the Crater Lake down 3000 ft to the B>kt Club Hut. Speeds of more than 60 m.p.li. were attained by many cf the competitors, and despite the necessity for negotiating many difficult obstacles, the distance of three miles was covered bv the winner, J. Loveridge, in 4mm 28 sec at an average speed of approximately 40 m.p.h. T. Fallon was second, smin 9sec, and L. Frost third in smm 31 2-ssec. •- ■
