OFFICER IN TOWER.
THREE CHARGES PREFERRED. LONDON, Aug. 17. Questions will be asked in Parliament on t'iie detention in the Tower of London of Major A. D. Wintle, M.C., of the Royal'Dragoons, who was arrested on June 21. No charge was preferred against him until August J■ He was charged, firstly, with having attempted to evade active service by pretending that he was suffering from defective vision; secondly, when on active service, with having committed a civil offence in London by assaulting Air-Commodore the Hon. J. D. Boyle; and, thirdly, with conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline by producing a revolver in the presence of Air-Commodore Boyle and threatening to shoot himself, and by saying that all officers over the rank of group-captain in the Royal Air Force and certain of His Majesty’s Ministers ought to be shot.
