OVERSEAS SHIPS.
(By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.). . y WELLINGTON, June 10. “The co-operative contract system of work on the waterfront has already been -tried on three overseas ships with excellent results,” stated Hon. 1. U Webb (Minister of Labour), when he announced that an early extension of the system is contemplated. . “I feel confident,” added the Minister, “that in a very little while all our Home boats m respect of- Winch speedy despatch is essential will i; be loaded and discharged under the cooperative contract system. Since the. Waterside Commission has been operating, over fifty overseas boats . have been worked on Sundays, 'holidays, and on overtime at the request of. the commission to expedite their speedy turn-round.”
