NATIONAL CLUB.
The provisional committee set up to form a club under the auspices of the Palmerston North branch of the Nat r ional Party last evening handed over their responsibility to a committee elected at the first general meeting of the club. Mr TI. A. Seifert (chairman) presided over a good attendance • and presented a report and financial statement, which was considered a happy augury for the future. Itilies for the club were adopted based on those of similar clubs already established. ,The meeting placed on record its appreciation of the work of Messrs L. Plimmer and D- Black, whose initiative had made the club an established fact, and these gentlemen in turn asked that appreciation of the work of the ladies’ committee, particularly Mrs W. F. Field, and .Miss C. Warburton, be also recorded, as their help had been invaluable. The meeting approved of the suggestion to establish a library, offers of hooks to form tile nucleus being forthcoming. The committee elected /is as follows: Miss C. Warburton, Mesdanios \V. F. Field. L. Bale and D. Black, Messrs ivf. 11. Oram. TI. A. Seifert, Tr. Plimmer and Cubitt. A member from the general committee is also to be nominated and a recommendation was made to co-opt two junior members, The bouse committee comprises Mesdames J. H. Whyte, H. L. Hartog. J.„ Davidson, C. Hayward and Driver, and the social committee Mesdames Garde Grimsliaw, Hr G. Mills, H; Seifert, Blade. HaSvcliffe, Malcolm. Messrs llawcliffe and Kyle.
