GENERAL NEWS.
RED CROSS SHOP. Over £4O was taken at the Red Cross shop conducted in Feilding on Friday, and this amount will be placed to the credit cf the Sick and Wounded Fund. Emergency Precautions. At the request of the Minister of Internal Affairs the emergency precautions scheme as it applies to Feilding will be overhauled shortly to bring the organisation up to date in the light of existing conditions. Basketball.
In the basketball games in Feilding on Saturday, a very even march was played between St. Brigid’s and Toas, the latter winning by one goal. Results are; Toas 16 v. St. Brigid’s 15; Swifts 26 v. Kias 10; Old Girls A 30 v. Cobbc’s 20; High School 22 v. Old Girls B 9. Soldiers’ Comforts.
At the depot for soldiers’ comforts in Feilding (the Community Centre), gifts from the following donors are acknowledged:—The Women’s Patriotic Society (Rangiwahia). Mrs Hazlett, Mrs Stringer (Reid’s Lino), Mrs W. Whisker (Kovvnai Road), Mrs Mansell. Mrs Livingstone (Kiwitea), Mrs Roy Wilton, Mrs Fdolsten, Awahuri Ladies’ Sewing Guild, and completed parcels from the Apiti, Table Flat and Waituna West Women’s Institutes.
