At a meeting of the Rangitikei County Council, Cr. K. W. Dalrymple presided. Others present were: Crs. G. L. Marshall, A. S. Coleman, J. Brice, R. G. Dalziell, A. D. Mair. L. E. Deacon, V. Smith, YV. Doolc and L. Hammond. A resolution was passed giving full support to the Wallace County Council in advocating a re-instatement of the 48-hour week during the war. The Transport Department wi.Cte outlining the Minister’s conditions for the appointment of parttime traffic inspectors. The Transport Department also forwarded leaflets in reference to the saving of petrol for distribution to motorists when applying for the renewal of their drivers’ licenses. The engineer and Cr. Coleman are to confer with the borough overseer regarding the Marton Borough Council’s request that the County Council undertake? to 'deal with the outfall in connection with the enlargement of the course of the Tutaenui Stream above the Makohau- Road. The engineer reported on damage caused by heavy rains experienced during the past .-month., At the annual meeting, Cr. Dalrymple was re-elected chairman.
