(From Our Own Correspondent.) HALCOMBE.' June 7. The following is the men's golf draw for the week-end, when a stroke competition will be played; .K. Fergusson, G. Nicol and R. Penny;. J. Old, A. Priest, L. Miller, and J. Coulson; N. Anderson, L. Fergusson and B. Bradley; R. Anderson, J. O’Sullivan and B. Bevan; 11. Fergusson, D. Managh and R. Ronloul; L. Anderson, I. Owens and L. Seigcl; H. Jones, N. Ashworth and S. Jones; C. Fergusson, R. Managh, and R. Elgar; G. Bevan, ECowdrey and W. Christian. Ihe recent Stableford bogey competition resulted: E. Cowdrey 32, S. Jones 31, R. Quarrie, I. Owen 30. The Ladies’ Golf Club played a hidden hole competition, which was won by Mrs R. Managh. In the challenge match for the silver button, the holder (Mrs J. O’Sullivan) retained the trophy by beating Mrs F. Cowdrey. Next week’s draw is: Mrs G. Nicol and Mrs J. O’Sullivan, Mrs D. Managh and Mrs N. Ashworth, Mrs J. Fergusson and Mrs L. Davies, Mrs Nairn and Mrs F. Cowdrey, Mrs'R. Williams and Mrs E. Cowdrey, Mrs J. Ferjrusson and Mies 13- Fergusson, Mrs L. Miller and Mrs R. Managh, Miss 0. I'ergusson and Mrs L. Fergusson. Mrs M. Mexted, of Wellington, has been the guest of Mrs G. Nicol. Miss G. Feigueson, who has been spending her vacation with her-parents, Mr and Mrs J. L. Fcrmisson, Tokorangi, has returned to Dunedin. Mr and Mrs D. Cowdrey, Tauranga, are the guests of Mr and Mrs ,,’ Cowdrey. Miss G. Anderson ,and Miss it. Rennie, Wellington, have bepn the guests of Mrs K.sC. Anderson. There was a large attendance when the ladies met in the Jubilee Hall on Wednesday to discuss the formation of a women s. organisation for patriotic purposes. Mr E. W. Cowdrey, chairman of the Halcombe Patriotic Committee, outlined the purpose of the meeting; and introduced Mrs A. C. McCorkindalo. chairwoman of the Fending Women’s Patriotic Committee, who explained fully the need for an organisation of this nature. It was decided to form an organisation to be known as the Hal* combe Women’s Patriotic Committee, this to be a sub-branch of the Halcombe and District Patriotic Committee. All ladies at the meeting (and with power to add) are to bo members thereof. An executive committee of ten was formed —Mesdames N. E. Ashworth, F. Brett, M. D. Janies, J. V. Curtis, K. C. Anderson, G. Nicol, A. E. Prior, R. Williams, J. O’Sullivan, and W. S. Page. Mrs Ashworth was elected chairwoman. At a meeting of the executive committee the following ladies undertook the duties of leaders: Knitting. Mrs J. V. Curtis; sowing, Mrs F. Brett; comforts, Mrs R. Williams and Mrs G. Nicol; while Mrs A. E. Prior undertook ihe arranging ot all three branches for tho Tokorangi area. To enable majerial to be purchased for tho first meeting, a small' coin collection was made. Mrs C. Managh has generously permitted the use of her hall for future meetings, and Mrs K. C. Anderson the use of her promises as a depot.
