PALMERSTON NORTH CITY COUNCIL. RESOLUTION STRIKING KATE. Notice is hereby given that the Palmerston North City Couiicil will make and levy (at an Ordinary Meeting of the Council to b<T hold at the City Council Office situate in The Square, Palmerston North, at .7.30 p.m. on the' 24th day of' June, 1940) the following rates for the period commencing on the First day of April, 1940, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1941, namely.— (a) A CONSOLIDATED RATE under Section 96 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” and Sections 47 and 61 of “Tlie , Rating Act, 1925,” of Seven pence and nine-twentieths of a penny (7 9-20 d) in the pound on all rateable value on the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the City of Palmerston North on the basis of the unimproved value, such rate being estimated to produce a sum not greater than the sum that would be produced by making and levying separately the following rates: 1. A GENERAL RATE, under Section 77 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” of Two pence and five-eighths of a penny (2§d) in the pound on all the said rateable value on the basis of the unimproved value. 2. A SPECIAL RATE of Three pence farthing (3id) in the pound on all the said rateable value on the basis of the unimproved value, such rate being the proportion for tho above mentioned period of the annually recurring special rates made for providing the interest and Sinking Funds on tho authorised loans in accordance with Section 95 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925 51 3. A HOSPITAL BOARD RATE, ,■ under the provisions of “The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926,” of One penny and one-fifth of a penny (1 l-sd) in the pound on the said rateable value on the basis of the unimproved value. 4. A LIBRARY RATE, under Section 92 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” of thirteen-fortieths of a penny (13-10 d) in the pound on the said rateable value on the basis of the unimproved value. 5. A SPECIAL RATE, directed to be made by the Foxton Harbour Board under Section 12 of “Foxton Harbour Board Amendment Act, 1917,” and Section 85 of the “Harbours Act,- 1923,” of one-twentieth (l-20d) of a penny in the pound on the said rateable value on the basis of the unimproved value. (b) WATER RATE. In respect of ordinary supply under Section 82 of “The Municipal Corporations Act. 1933,” and -under Section 51 of “Tho Rating Act. 1925,” as follows:—On all land and buildings in the City of Palmerston North to which water is supplied : 1. Where the annual value doe 6 not exceed Twelve pounds ten shillings (£l2 10s) a rate of Ten shillings. 2. Where such annual value exceeds Twelve pounds ten shillings (£l2 10s) a rate of four and one-quarter per centum of such value. One-half of the respective water rates mentioned above on all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied situated within one hundred yards from any part of the Waterworks and on all buildi.n'gs used as stores or warehouses for any purposes other- than dwelling houses. (c) A FIRE BOARD RATE. A separate Rate under Section 30 of “The Fire Brigades’ Act, 1926,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act. 1925,” of fivc-thirtysecomb (5-32 d) of' a penny in the pound on the value of the buildings in the City exclusive of the value of the sites on which such buildings are erected. \ SANITATION FEE

* THAT notice is also given that the Council proposes at such meeting to levy a uniform fee of Seventeen shillings and six pence (17s 6d) for the above mentioned period for sanitation purposes under Section 90 (2) of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” and Section 51 of “The Rating Act. 1925.” THAT ALL SUCH RATES AND SANITATION FEES be payable at the Office of the .City Council in one instalment on tlie First <lay of July, 1940 THAT-NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Rate Book containing particulars of all the above rates and Sanitation Fee, also the Valuation Roll containing the values on which the rates are “assessed, be open for inspection at the City Council Office during Office hours.
