_ MARTON, June 6. Marton’s donations to the Sick, Wounded and Distressed Fund Appeal now total £1425 5s lid. Rain fell at Marton on nineteen days during May, totalling 5.15 inches, which was nearly two inches in excess of the average, 3.26. Most rain fell on May 10, when ,86in. was recorded. The fortnightly sitting of the Marton Magistrate’s Court was held on Wednesday, Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., presiding. Ethel Marion Finch pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, and failure to report an accident to the police. Defendant was fined 30s, costs 10s, on the first charge and £l7' costs' 13s; on the second. On a charge of selling liquor after hours, T. C. Williams, .licensee .of the Railway Hotel, Marton J unction, was fined £7.
