PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
(To the, Editor.)
Sir, —C. B. Anderson made a very poor attempt to answer my letter. As a matter of fact I fail to see that he has replied at all. I did not inquire if it was a fact that the young farmers were having a ball, or whether they were giving half the profits to the patriotic funds. These two things I was fully aware or. The point I raised was the sprat to catch a mackerel; i.c., to get patronage to a patriotic' appeal and the young farmers tako half. That was the text of my letter, but Mr Anderson did not reply as to why they adopt this method. If the young farmers want to be really patriotic with this function, then they, should give all the profits. Approval and sanction for this will only cost a twopenny stamp at the most, and I don’t think the sub-committee would refuse. Mr Anderson’s suggestion that of- my own free will I should offer to do a few more hours of work each week was quite uncalled for. but easily understood. It is more than likely that I get less leisure time than he does.— I am, etc., DUNKIRK.
