ASHHURST.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHIIURST, June 6. The monthly meeting of the' Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Currie. A motion of sympathy was accorded Mrs Muldroek, who lias suffered a bereavement. Tho meeting next month is to take the form of a social, when there will be various' stalls,r including sweets and produce, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to patriotic funds. Kirs D.ymock, of Palmerston North, entertained members with an, interesting talk oil her travels abroad, and she was accorded thanks. The competition for the seniors resulted: Three fancy biscuits, Mrs Currie 1, Mrs Flowers 2, Mrs. Smith 3; junior' class, sponge roll. Miss B. Young 1, Miss Woodroofe 2, Miss McIsaac 3; flower from the garden, Mrs W. Smith 1, Mrs Currie 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Sehnel, Mclsaae, Tremewan and Mias Mclsaac. Hostesses for July are Mesdames Murphy, Hewitt, Young and Youle.
