KNIGHTS’ VARIETY SHOW.

The Palmqston North contingent of the Knight/ Organisation presented, ' on Wednesday, at the Opera House, a well-balancJ programme of humorous ' items, mu&al concoctions and dance numbers. /Miss Lorraine Major, tho ' brilliant yipil and exponent of Miss Gwen Giles’s technique, performed a delightfufroutine of novelty tap dance numhers/and .Mr W. Larkin and his Melody-nakers opened the show; a no'teworhy addition to this popular group js Mr W. Pere Andre, who, apart fom singing the vocal refrains during/the band’s presentation, gave two Lpwaiian items. Miss Jean Scott and Mss P. Over contributed excellent dince numbers, ably exemplifying their/original technique. Mr Alan Sundforn and his Radio Trio were

very popular, particularly their special novefy numbers. Mr G. Dawson and Miss H. Alderson gave their version of “|outh of the Border,” ;affei* which Mr Dawson appeared as an eccentric sail# Mr' C. Henderson, in whirlwind tapjlance routines, was well received, likffase Mr Flannigan, whose baritone voiG indicates much promise for a cotrert career. The Harmonica Rascals, a Jroup of young ifien well costumed am rehearsed, gave some very snappy nimbers, and proved an excellent atthetion. Last but not least were the Riofs, three “mad-hatters” whose foontaneous humour kept the show moving. Two of the three fun-makers |re local boys rehearsed by/Mr Richirdson. Their performance; was very [ noteworthy when it is considered they jhad only six rehearsals. The manner in which they continually interrupted the announcements lent a new flavour to the orthodox manner ■of concert presentation.. The majority- ‘of their items were entirely new to Palmerston theatre-goers. Messrs G. Brewer amt IV. Webb, as “Tom” and. “Dick,” will obviously be heard again soon.
