FIRE IN STATE HOUSE.

Fire seriously damaged the front part of tlic residence occupied by Mr and Mrs C. C. Trainor at 123 Savage Crescent, in the State housing block at West End shortly before 10.30 yesterday morning. The outbreak originated in a builtin wardrojie and in a very short space of time had assumed serious proportions. The prompt action of the Fire Brigade confined the outbreak to the front part of the house —a bedroom and the dining-room. The furni--ture in both rooms suffered severely from the effects of smoke and water. All the clothing of Mr Trainor, which was in the wardrobe, was lost, and the other rooms also were affected by smoke and water, and paper was burnt from the walls in the hall. Shortly before the alarm was given by neighbours, Mrs Trainor, who was engaged in duties in the wash-house removed her baby daughter who was sleeping in the room where the outbreak originated. .. .. ..
