DRINKING BY WOMEN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June o. The presence of large numbers of women drinking in the lounges of certain hotels xvas criticised at the annual meeting of' the Auckland Licensing Committee. It xvas suggested that many xvomen of an undesirable type congregated in hotels for a particular purpose, and the police suggested sterner supervision of lounges. “The committee has no poxver to stop xvomen from being on the premises,” said the chairman (Mr- W. R. McKean, S.M.). He suggested the police should make strong representations to the proper quarter, suggesting a number of amendments to the Licensing Act.-
