PAHIATUA.
MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Mi- 11. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. J. F. Murphy was fined 30s, with 13s costs, for failing to give way to traffic on the right. N. U. Pratt pleaded guilty to a charge of being without lawful excuse on certain premises, the home of G. A. Evans. He was fined £2, with 12s costs. P. L. O’Neill (Mr S. T. Tinnoy), licensee of the Commercial 110 l el, pleaded guilty, through his solicitor, to a charge of selling liquor after hours. Mr ’1 innoy also entered pleas of guilty on behalf of A. A. I. Trask, ''who was charged that, being a person other than tho licensee, he sold liquor after hours, and J. T. Young, charged with aiding and. abetting the unlawful_ sale of liquor. O’Neill was fined £3, Trask £2 and Young £l, the costs in each case being 10s A plea of guilty was entered by Mr N. H. Rawson on behalf of J. Do P. Mattson, licensee of the Rutland Hotel, charged with selling liquor after hours. Defendant was fined £lO. with 10s costs, and the Magistrate said that if he was charged again in the- near future his license would be endorsed. E. 11. Lett and C. W. Kershaw were fined £1 each for being on licensed .premises after hours. Lett, is to pay 10s costs and Kershaw 12s .costs. W. Kernick, licensee of the Post Office Hotel, was fined £5, with 10s costs, for selling liquor after hours. Mr Rawson appeared for defendant. W. Batten was fined £l. with 10s costs, for being on licensed premises after hours. RED CROSS APPEAL. To dale £2731 2s has been received for the Sick and Wounded Appeal in Pahiatua. RUGBY FOOTBALL. The draw for Saturday’s matches under the auspices of the Bush Rugby Union is:—Senior: Konini v. Woodville (Mr C. Skilton); Nireaha v. Haniua (Mr W. Lawry); Pahiatua v. Hukanui (Mr AV. Ryan). Third grade: Eketalmna v. Hukanui (Mr V. Brown); Athletic v. Pahiatua (Mr B. Harvey); Nireaha v. Mangatainoka (Air J. Sandman). , DISTRICT HIGI-I SCHOOL. Four, members of the Wellington Education Board visited the District Hierh School yesterday. They were Messrs AV. Dyer (chairman) and AA T . Deavoll (secretary) and A. Donald and Colonel McDonald (AATiirarapa members of the board).
