Tlie former Secretary for War (Mr Oliver Stanley) lias rejoined as a subaltern the Royal Field Artillery, in which he was a major in the last war, states a London cablegram. Secretary-treasurer of the Auckland Grammar School Board since 1923, Mr Charles Edward Gordon Tisdall, of Takapuna, has died at the age of 68. The youngest son of the late Major Tisdall, lie was born in Auckland and as a young man, served the British and Foreign Missionary Society in Persia and later in Singapore before returning to Auckland.

Advice has been received in Dunedin that Captain Wal'te* Reginald Creeser, of Dunedin, serving with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, has died of natural causes. Captain Creeser was >Vellknown in business circles in Dunedin and was a noted athlete. Born in England 31 years ago, he came to New Zealand at the age of five. Captain Creeser had been interested in defence work for 12 years. He is survived by his wife and an infant son. A tribute to the work of the late Mr H. B. Stuckey, of Dannevirke, was paid at the opening of the sheepfarmers’ conference at Massey College today. JThe chairman (Professor G. S. Peren) said that Mr Stuckey was a member of the managing committee of the conference from its inception. He was always ready and willing , to assist. He was one of the best men to work with, and his death would be a great loss to the sheepfarmers of New Zealand. Those present stood in silence as a mark of respect.
