Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Ivan Wilson, of Palmerston North, have taken a house in Salamanca ltoad, Wellington, for six months.
Bishop and Mrs T. EL Sprott, of Wellington, who. celebrated their diamond wedding on Sunday, received the following cablegram from , King George and Queen Elizabeth, sent from Buckingham Palace : “The King and Queen send you hearty congratulations and --good wishes on your diamond wedding day.” They 1 also received a congratulatory telegram from Viscount and Viscountess Galway. The first of a series of social evenings to be given by members of various branches of the Palmerston North Labour Party was arranged by the women’s- branch in the ■ Trades Hall, when a' large number gathered to spend a most enjoyable evening with dancing, competitions and items. The winners of competitions were.— Lucky Gay Gordons, Miss D. Haggett and Mr V. Christiansen;' Monte Carlo, Miss Dalby and Mr N. J. Reid. Mrs F. Robertson thanked all present for their most encouraging attendance and tlie entertainers. Mrs Robertson also commented on the capabilities of the women in arranging and conducting such a successful evening entirely without the assistance of any of the men. .Items were given by Mrs Doyle (popular songs) and Master AY. Lennon (violin solos). Music for the dancing was supplied by a professional orchestra, extras being given by Mrs Hunt and Mr A. Gill.
