ADVANCING WAR EFFORT. SYDNEY, June 2. Forty thousand men and women at a meeting in the Domain this afternoon under the auspices of the newlyformed Ex-servicemen’s War Emergency Association pledged themselves to use every effort to stimulate tho national war effort, assist the Government effectively to mobilise national resources in man-power and materials and to create a vigilance organisation to protect the country from aliens, traitors and prpfiteers, Returned soldiers later made a similar pledge. • The Federal Government will call for 60,000 volunteers to form a national service guard for the defence of vital points.
