GENERAL NEWS.
BUILDING PERMITS. s During May the Feilding Borough Council issued nine building permits carrying a value of £2864, including one new dwelling and a new building in the business area. Vital Statistics. Births, deaths and marriages registered at Feilding during May are as follow: Births, 26 (ll); deaths, 6 (2); marriages, 3 (11). The figures for May, 1939, are shown in parentheses. Territorial Association. At a well attended meeting of the women’s committee of the Feilding Territorial Association Mrs "W. Coulson Fowler was in the chair. The meeting was briefly addressed by the Mayor on the needs of the local Territorials, and it was "unanimously resolved to hold a ball this month on the lines of that which was so successful in October of last year. The funds will be applied towards the needs of the local unit. The members will parade at a church service later in the month. Athletics and Cycling. At a meeting of the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club it was decided that, in order to give the competitors more competition, the members of tho cycling division be given permission to ride in Palmerston North for the remainder of the road season, and to solicit the support of the Cycling Centre in the event of the club deciding to hold an open race later in the season. It was stated that the club had conducted three races so far this season, hut difficulty diad been experienced in securing sufficient competitors to make the racing worth while.
