NOTE ISSUE.
TREND IN BRITAINLONDON. May '3l. After remaining remarkably little changed for week 6, the British note circulation has increased by ten million sterling to the record level of £557,000,000. The principal cause of the rise is believed to be withdrawals to meet the extra wages for overtime work, also possible evacuation expanses, but' bankers also attribute the increase to uneasiness regarding the extent to which the Government control of the banks will be carried.
