HACK' STEEPLES TO SURCOAT. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 1. The Dunedin Jockey Club’s winter meeting opened to-day in lino weather. There was a good attendance and a heavy track. Results : TAHUNA HACK -AND HUNTERS’ STEEPLES, of £l5O. About two miles and a-quartcr.—l-1 Surcoat, 9.11 (P. J. Boyle), 1; 4-4 El Caballo, 10,8 (Mr W. Boyle), 2; 3-2 Song Boy .9.5 (H. J. Powell), 3. Scratched: Baltruin, Whirr, Osculate, Volens. Three lengths each way. Time, 5.37 2-5.
