BELGIANS FIGHT ON

COURAGEOUS SUPPORT. AT SIX POINTS. Received June 1, 9 a.m. PARIS, May 31. The Belgian authorities announce that Belgian troops are still fighting, but the number is not known. According to Madame Tabouis (the prominent writer and journalist) a Belgian force under the command of ; General de Krae, Commander of the Liege military region, was fighting at six points yesterday. A Belgian officer declares that he was astounded when the order came to the Belgian Army to cease fighting. “We will not stop fighting on Leopold’s order, and there are thousands of other Belgian soldiers of the same opinion,” he said. “The British and French are fighting magnificently and are getting away their troops successfully in spite of the Germans, who are doing thenworst.” GERMAN REVIEW. A German High Command communique states: “We destroyed or took prisoner a mass of French troops in North-Eastern France, but the encircled units are still resisting at a few points. AVe are continuing our attacks against the remainder of the British troops in the loop between Fumes and Bergues, and eastward of Dunkirk the loop has been flooded. “The . enemy are resisting stubbornly, and trying to rescue as many soldiers as possible with ships, regardless of losses of material. AA 7 e wiped out the British force which attempted to escape from Cassel. “The German forces in Artois and Flanders are now freed for further tasks. “Bad weather yestciuay handicapped our air forces, but we repeatedly attacked the docks at Dunkirk. AVe shot down three French ’planes in Northern France and one British ’plane at Stavanger. Two of our ’planes are missing. British ’planes, one of which was shot down, again attacked nonmilitary objectives in North Germany, but the damage was not serious. “The German navy has taken over the coastal defence of all the Dutch ports, also the Belgian and French norts in our possession A German high-speed torpedo-boat sank a destroyer off the Belgian coast.”
