The French military spokesman declared that the first important elements of *General Prioux’s Army have fought their way through the German lines and reached the Dunkirk region. The French units, doggedly fighting, have broken through the line between Cassel and Kemmel, while the other forces are still heavily engaging the Germans. The British and French are strongly entrenched in Dunkirk and are holding out solidly. It is officially stated that General Gamelin (formerly Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces in France) is in Paris. He is at complete liberty, but bas no military command.
