Mr P. A. Smithells,--superintendent of Physical Education, who has been visiting Palmerston North, has left for Dannevirke. Mr H. E. Ivissling left Palmerston North to-day to take over his new. position with the State Advances Corporation in Gisborne. He was accompanied by Mrs Kissling. Mr C. J. Playne has been appointed assistant-Public Trustee, in succession to Mr' W. M. Barr, who has retired on superannuation. Mr Playne is at present controller of the estates division, head office. Rev. W. Reyburn, the oldest Presbyterian minister in the Dominion, who has retired, attained his ninety-sixth birthday this week. He has had more than 50 years’ service in St. Andrew’s Church, Wairoa. The Bishop of Wellington (Rt. Rev. H. Holland) will visit Palmerston North on June 16, this being his first visit since his return "from England. He will be at All Saints’ Church and St. Peter’s Church on that day. Rev. Brian Kilroy, minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wellington, has received invitations to occupy the pulpits of Scots Church, and Scots Church, Sydney. He has accepted the invitation from Sydney. ' - Information has been received to the effect that Staff Sergeant-Major A. Holmes, N.Z.P.S., has been promoted to lieutenant in the New Zealand Permanent Staff and will shortly take up duties at Hawera as Adjutant of Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles. Mr Graham F. Fox, formerly of Napier and now of Palmerston North, has been successful in passing his design and working drawings problems in testimonies of study for this year’s examination in professional architecture. This now completes Mr Fox’s fourth year teitimonies. Mr W. G. L. Mellish, who has been appointed Coroner for the Wellington district, has taken up his new duties, though he still retains his practice as a barrister and solicitor. Born and educated in Palmerston North, Mr Mellish went to Wellington as a qualified solicitor in 1916. His mother was a teacher at the old Campbell Street School. / . -
