RACES AT AWAPUNI
FIELDS FOR SECOND DAY. SIX REMAIN IN STEEPLES. (By “Spectator.”) Good fields, particularly in the hack events, remain with the closing of acceptances for. the second day of the Manawatu Racing Chib’s winter meeting to be bold at Awapuni to-morrow. The Makerua Bracelet Handicap, for gentleman riders, has attracted a good entry, arid the Rangiotu Trial Handicap is also Well tupported. Six remain in the Manawatu Steeplechase Handicap, and an interesting contest should result. Eight horses remain to contest the Ngata .Hurdles, and the open distance handicap has attracted nine starters. The acceptances include a good number of flesh horses, and will ensure that some excellent contests will bo seen. Betting is on the single pool system. The following horses may be fancied: Makerua Braclet Handicap.—Dunmanway, I-laupongi, Peach King. Rangiotu Trial Handicap.—Batsham, Eupatrid, Amyas Leigh.
