Airs E. Bowler presided at the May meeting of the Women’s Institute in the absence of Mrs Algie, who is. indisposed. Arrangements for the Winter Show were completed, also the choosing of a delegate to attend the annual conference.. Mcsd'lines Bowler and AVaterson read reports of le-c-cnt meetings held at Shannon and Foxton. Airs T. Lynch gave the “golden thread” talk on Ireland, which was very interesting. The hostesses wero Mesdames Honore and Ballinger. The competitions for the day resulted : Potato scones. Airs Lynch 1, Mrs Mullins 2: bloom, Airs J. Alullins 1, Airs T. Lynch 2. A play was staged by drama circle members. Airs S. Irvine presided at the garden circle’s meeting which was held at her residence, but owing to sickness only a few members were able to be present.' The chrysanthemum show was very successful, and results wore: Decorated basket, Airs Irvine 1; bowl of chrysanthemums, Airs Irvine 1, Airs A. Currin 2. Alis 9 N. Black and Aliss J. Brayton, of Hawke’s Bay, are the guests of Air and Airs L. Ballinger. Airs Fahev. of Upper Hutt. is the guest of Air arid Airs Belesky. Airs L. Ba-igent, of AA’e'.lingto'i, is visiting her mother, Airs L. Al. Aldrich. Air L. Craw, of 'Wellington, is on holidays in Unton. Air and Airs S. Swenson recently snent a holiday in AVoodville. Aliss V. Hall, of Kairanga, is the guest of Air and Airs D. Craw.
